A Rose for Emily

“A Rose for Emily”is one of the most extraordinary short stories in 20th century American literature. The author (William Faulkner) creates a very ugly, fat and grotesque female character as the protagonist, and places her in a setting defined by violence that envelopes her town, her house and her boyfriend. I did pick up this short story because attracted my attention the fiction of the literature. Everyone are suppose to read the action on each of the paragraphs and the mystery of the words.

  1. I haven't been able to read the story, I've been studying for my ANP exams, it's just so much information. But everyone seems to enjoy the story, so I'll read it soon.

  2. Very interesting. It was a cute story. Even back then people use to talk. They saw a couple courting one another but they never wed because Homer liked men. Poor Emily, her father died, she is left with all these taxes and the man she spent a lot of years with never really saw her intimately. Who knows if she killed herself, but after all of this who could blame her! I felt the mood in this story was melancholy. I am a huge Edgar Alan Poe fan his poems are a mix of eerie and melancholy as well.
